About: Black Melanite is an opaque crystal that rarely comes in any other color than deep black. It is extremely shiny, and reflects light very easily. When broken, all a person would see where Crackle is broken is a shiny black abyss.

Personality

Coming off as playful, Crackle can be a bit childish too despite their years. They like to chat and make conversation with the best of them, but cherish tranquility and peace like one might a fine wine. Stubborness is one of their downfalls, as they believe themselves to be right, especially when in a conversation with a human, but will accept when they are wrong and try to make things right.

History

Crackle emerged from the Joshu deserts dirty and alone, stumbling over the dunes until they reached the edges of the opposite side of the Forcantus mountain range and a traveling gemstone had pity on them. They remember the gem as being sunny and bright and going by the name Sol. Sol led Crackle up the mountainside and dressed them in some of their own clothes, making Crackle something more than a wanderer. They taught Crackle how to protect themselves in the mountains and how to protect the land around them. Most of all, they gave Crackle their name. Sol said it was because their voice sounded like it had a crackling of leaves in it.

When they first shattered, it was because Crackle slipped and fell off a rock face. They laid on the ground in pieces, helpless and alone until Sol arrived to piece them back together. They reformed over a few days, with Sol right beside them, talking them through it the whole time. Once they finally pieced back together, they realized some pieces from their face were missing and though how much they and Sol looked, they couldn't find them. Sure, they regenerated, but it left a little crack in their 'skin', showing what they really are underneath.

Eventually, Sol parted ways with Crackle, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and dedication, yet also fun times and laughter. Now that Crackle has started to work with the humans of Harknest, they have found 'work' of a sort, hunting down ruffians and bringing them to justice for the city. They also hunt wild animals that terrorize the people, and all sorts of other things, making them an 'adventurer' of sorts.

They're now looking for a partner, finding the job to be too stressful and dangerous on their own, having nearly lost one arm already. But that is a story for another time. Now is the time to find a cohort in mountain justice!
