GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

HISTORY
[attr="class","maintext"]
Humans were always destined to fail. They created and destroyed, created and destroyed, until they had little left to create with and everything left to destroy. So, destroy they did, those who were lucky disappeared into underground hideaways, those who were unlucky died on the surface. After hundreds upon thousands of years of waiting and finally running out of resources, humans finally emerged when all seemed quiet. They came expecting a ravaged landscape, only to find fields of green and broken down relics of the past. The world had flourished after humans had hidden away, and at a rapid pace.
[break][break]
It was soon found out that this was because of new lifeforms, which had created themselves from materials such as gemstones, and cultivated the land into what it was now. The first encounters ranged from peaceful to violent, depending on the humans of course. It was eventually settled that the different species were to live in a type of harmony, the gemstones tending to and protecting the land while the humans emerged to settle it once more.
[break]
A couple hundred years passed before the first sunspots appeared, and this was when the humans and gemstones really came together. They came from the sky through massive black chasms from which emerged parades of white and cream colored armies on black, rolling clouds. They shot down at the defenseless humans and gemstones with their arrows and spears, slaughtering both, leaving the humans to rot and collecting the shining pieces of gemstones to take with them.
[break]
Those who survived learned how to fight, but only with sword, spear, and bow. The humans and the gemstones worked together to learn how to make weapons from metals dug up by the strongest gemstones. It is in these endeavors that humans learned that they have a little power too, abilities to control the elements and more.. Magic.
[break]
Magic, it seems, was a forgotten talent, forgotten when humans of the far gone past began to move forwards with technology, and left behind to gather dust in human genetics. Now it has only been awakened when it is needed the most, now. Using their magic, they make new weapons of war and learn to use their magic as a weapon of war.
[break]
United together by steel and magic, the gemstones and the humans fight a battle against the mysterious forces that come down from the clouds, and at the same time try to ignore rising tensions between each other. Two races so different, united by the same cause, to live… One might think they would simply get along for that reason alone.
[break]
However, that is not always the world’s way, and sometimes.. Some people just want to watch the world burn.

SETTING
[attr="class","maintext"]
The setting of Diamant is that of a post-apocalyptic world starting over in middle age technologically wise. Sure there are books that we can associate with the now, but not enough materials that we can say make a cell phone or a computer.
[break]
There are four lands in Diamant, representing four extremes: desert, forest, mountain, and ocean. Joshu, Granlous, Forcantas, and Mirelantis. There are also six major rivers that stream through the lands of Diamant, four from the mountaintops of Forcantas and two that burst forth from underground rivers in oases of Joshu.
[break]
JOSHU ---
Joshu is a vast desert land with spots of oases here and there as you go. Many of the humans have made their homes around the oases or travel from one to the next following herds of wild animals as they go. Despite its unforgiving nature and seeming to be barren, it does give up fruit. It is a place where some of the gemstones are created, tumbling forth from the sands as they move with the howling winds, naked and unknowing until another knowledgeable gemstone takes them under their wing. Around two of the oases, metal is mined, specifically gold and platinum, and settlements have started to be made there.
[break]
GRANLOUS ---
Granlous is a massive forest expanse dotted in areas by areas of seemingly endless plains. A great number of humans have made their home here, preferring to make their villages in the safety of the plains-like areas. They hunt and gather from the forests and farm and trade in the villages. However, bandits and other villainous scum make their home in the forest, making trade hard. The routes through the forests are also hard and not yet well worn for the transport of goods from one place to the next. It is through these forests that many small villages and cities gain the needed supplies to grow, so the paths and new roadways are being protected and worked on daily. Four rivers of Diamant stream through this massive forest and are being used as a more efficient way to get to the sea from the mountains. Sadly, despite being safe from the creatures of the woods, they are not safe from Sunspots and honestly, they are worse off.
[break]
FORCANTAS ---
Forcantas is a mountain range that runs north and breadth ways through the land of Diamant. Humans and gemstones alike live on it’s high ranges, humans hunting it’s animals and partaking of the rare edible vegetation on the mountainside whilst gemstones prevent avalanches from having the traits for forming and mine cold metals, like iron, and minerals like coal, from the mountainside. Together they make steel weapons, which they ship down to the forest and sea through rivers, and by the back of beast on the other side of the mountain to Joshu. This is a hard life, and though there is a city growing on the side of the mountain, most people live in small family-like villages or alone.
[break]
MIRELANTIS ---
Mirelantis is the general name for the sea that surrounds the whole of Diamant and the coastline and salt-water marshland that is included with it. Here, food is plentiful and everyday life is beautiful, but the attacks by the Sunspots are more frequent here. One of the beaches is a dark, black place where gemstones emerge from, beautiful and bright.
[break]
NORðRTJORN & ICCDALR ---
Norðrtjorn lies to the north of the continent whilst Iccdalr lies to the south, and they are the coldest parts of the continent and also the most barren. However, despite their unhospitable, freezing environments, with the help of gems, mankind has managed to make a way living in the tundras and massive glaciers. Norðrtjorn is home to some of the finest iron deposits known to man and gem kind but it is almost impossible to harvest them in any time other than summer when the ice melts just enough. The same goes with Iccdalr, but it's deposits are massive strains of gold. At the shores of these areas, specifically only antarticite gemstones are born.
